Mount Meru is an active (but dormant) volcanic mountain located north of Arusha City, Tanzania. Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest mountain and the fourth-highest mountain in Africa with its peak at 4562 meters above sea level.
a “warm-up” trek for Kilimanjaro climbers
The mountain became famous mainly because it is only 70 km from Mount Kilimanjaro and Its popularity as a “warm-up” trek for Kilimanjaro climbers. However, the technical necessities of climbing Mount Meru are greater than those on Mount Kilimanjaro. On the fourth day of trekking, you will see some wildlife buffalos, antelopes, giraffes, and baboons, and pass through waterfalls and amazing Meru streams therefore, for safety purposes an assigned park ranger will accompany a group.
